You're a bloody legend! I'll let you know when my tax return comes in and we'll get started as soon as you're ready. Very Happy I have to wait for EOFY in Australia first having recently moved back from there, and the stupid accountants for my ex-employer are refusing to release my tax details till EOFY so I couldn't submit it at end of tax year NZ time. xD

I'll start looking into what tools I'll need too, so I can get them all. Very Happy

Well, she's just had a bath today and she's looking pretty good. Very Happy Just a few things that niggle at me whenever I see them. Sad I can put up pictures if you wanna see the little things that make me lament terrible drivers. Very Happy

Long story short, don't ever let anyone else drive your car. xD Ever. Ever. xD

I really wanna go for a cruise now it's all clean and pretty and running so nicely. xD I can't wait for the projects at work to start up so I can burn some money on fuel for no real reason. Very Happy

Hehe well, it'll look the same, truth be told. xD For now all I'm doing is fixing it up mechanically, and then I'll probably get the body work taken care of a year or so down the track. Razz

But thank you so much for the compliment. Very Happy

Excellent looking original FX GT, still on the original wheels, rare as most owners change wheels first.

Rebuild the Silvertop as it has stronger internals than a Blacktop and can be supercharged or turboed.

My Silvertop with Rotrex supercharger.

I'm totally digging the TRD sticker. xD Yeah, I'm going to be rebuilding the ST, dunno if I'll F.I it though. I'm thinking about it, but not one hundred percent certain there's any point on a daily driver. Razz I know I could just do it, coz racecar, but I'll have to weigh it up a bit first. Razz

On that note, while I'm rebuilding it, how pricey would it be to get some forged internals and a lightened fly-wheel? I want to do a break upgrade at the same time, and maybe a c156 transmission later too, if that marries up fine with the ST? I really want some TRD spark plug leads too, but we'll be looking at the budget when the time comes. xD

Supercharger is sick, though, and I gotta admit I do prefer the thought of a supercharger over a turbo, simply due to consistent boost, and I love to push a little harder than I probably should on corners. xD Can't have turbo kicking in halfway round. :S

I'm gonna keep the original wheels, too. Smile They have a certain appeal to them, and they shined up alright. Razz Could use some more shining, but not sure what to do to get them back to as new state. xD

That is EXACTLY what I mean. xD I wanna upgrade the suspension later down the lines too, and pick up one of the TRD 3 point strut braces, also does anyone know if these can take a rear strut brace, or if I'll have to use a sway bar instead? I don't wanna strip the interior, as it's a daily driver, so it has to function as such and remain comfortable. Razz

Thanks. Very Happy My friend and I went down a quiet long straight back road out near his place last nice - the good sort, with no speed cameras or police to enforce that speed limit that you just know I was planning to break - and I cracked it wide open, just to see how well it would go. I'm actually very pleased with the speed as I know I've lost some horses and they won't be found again till I rebuild it, so I'm thinking there's no real point going F.I for NZ roads - nowhere to use all that power. I think for NZ roads it's best to just work the block itself and tune the f@@k out of it, and focus on increasing handling as much as possible.

On the other hand, I do plan to work the actual engine itself as I have funds and time, and thinking about investing in better cooling for it too. Perhaps an oil cooler and temp gauge for it, as I noticed when cruising with the aircon off the water temp goes up to about halfway up the gauge. Not sure if this is normal, but I like it to chill near the bottom. Razz Funnily enough, with the air-con running, near the bottom is exactly where it chills.... Perhaps someone more experienced can explain it to me?

Even with the missing horses, I made a honda fan boy cry when his turbo'd b18c couldn't hang even close to me. Heard his turbo go off and saw him start an "I'm a dick" overtake, so I dropped a couple of gears, gave him a wave, and left him behind within 2 corners... "Bye bye, Mr Integra Fan-boy." To be fair, that was on the way down the mountain from Warkworth, and I know that place like the back of my hands - used to drive from Warkworth to Auckland every day and then back again.

Does anyone know where I can source some performance parts for the engine? Am not planning to boost it, just want to keep it NA, so open to any suggestions. Smile Also looking to upgrade the transmission - I hear a c56 is a solid option? What about the E58? Or is that too hard to find reasonably speaking?

I don't know too much about engines or increasing performance, but I want it to corner better, accelerate faster, shift smoother, stop sooner and run cooler. xD Any suggestions on good places to start, Ladies and Gentlemen? As previously stated, I'll be doing an engine rebuild, so preferably things that can be worked in at the same time. I wanna keep it NA. Feel free to post any and all suggestions, and I will look into each as I have the money. Very Happy

breathing mods firsts, better and colder air flow into the engine, then better exhaust flow, aftermarket exhaust manifold and a 2.5" custom exhaust system.

swap for blacktop ecu and map sensor, from what i have read its a more aggressive map.

the best and cheapest option is to lighten your car, remove any un-necessary bits, you wont believe how much of a difference it makes.

then you can get aftermarket cams, lightened flywheel, uprated clutch.

for handling,

coilovers
bigger front and rear anti roll bars
rear strut bracee
better tyres

brakes

do what me and scott are doing / done
levin twinpots with celica carriers, allows you to have big 275mm discs on a mac setup
dot 5.1 fluid

Rebuilding it NA you can get ACL race bearings, ARP bolts for rods and flywheel, TRD 0.8MM head gasket, ARP studs for head, Supertech oversize valves, Supertech springs, Tomei poncams, head ported, after market manifold or use Blacktop manifold as it's 33mm dia where Silvertop is 30mm.
As for gearbox use C56 with LSD, E58 [if you can find one off a Levin] is a lot heavier, stronger and the drives are bigger but not really needed unless you go [or plan to go] above 220bhp.

About the engine - not too concerned about doing more than keeping it running well. I've decided that I'm going to do a 1mz-fe swap once I have the money to do it.

So, what did I get up to today?
Well, let's see.... Jamie gave me some sway bar links last night coz he rightly guessed that mine might be a little... how can I put it? Past their use by date?

Excuse the wheel brace, I decided to do it outside my partners work while I waited for her to finish so I could take her to uni. Razz I had a couple of hours to kill, since I was just running her in to do a short couple hours work, and then back to uni, so I figured I should have enough tools in my boot to get the job done... I did! Very Happy But the ground was wet, which sucked... Or would have, if she hadn't insisted on buying a picnic blanket not too long ago. xD To her dismay, it went down on the wet ground so I didn't have to. xD

Excuse the wheel brace hanging off the nut there, that thing was stuck like shit to wallpaper, so I had to get her boss (my friend) to stand on the other side while I lifted the wheel half off the ground to get the nut to crack. xD And as for the hammer? Freeing up seized nuts on the old links at the expense of an open end spanner I bought for a dollar for that very purpose. xD

Pics:

For comparisons sake, I put the links Jamie gave me beside the one I pulled out. Right is the one that came out of the car.

It brings me great sadness to report that the rockin rolla has been at least temporarily retired. I'll put photos up for you all tomorrow. Have yet to find out what repairs will set me back.

So, long story short, I hit an icy patch of road mid corner tonight, and lost traction completely. I managed to keep it out of the oncoming traffic, but hit a junction box pumping out 415kva. I got free of my vehicle via the passenger side, making sure not to touch any metal, and jumped as far clear of it as I could. According to the guys that came to isolate the box, I'm lucky to be alive as they have no idea why the box didn't blow and pump all 415kva through my car and me, turning me into little more than a mangled body flamegrilled in the driver seat. Thankfully, nobody was injured in the crash, and I am one hundred percent a-okay, but probably in debt for the next 10 years at least.
