Hey Phil, I got it on TradeMe. Here's the auction number for a current listing: 589738491

I decided to take some better/wider shots of the carbon covers today:

I also received some more goodies in the mail today - An Exedy heavy duty clutch and pressure plate and an Exedy lightweight chromoly flywheel (both made in Japan).

The flywheel weighs 4.9kg, which is exactly 1kg less than the stock Blacktop flywheel. Should make a noticeable difference in acceleration:

Another day, another delivery Very Happy. These arrived a few minutes ago - My 275mm front rotors and a set of new brake pads that I ordered from Toyota. Got my set of AE101 twinpot calipers and ST202 Celica carrier brackets sitting here already waiting so I'm looking forward to putting everything on Smile

Haha, hoping to get them on ASAP so will post up my progress. When I start I won't be able to stop as my Corolla is daily driven so that'll give me a massive incentive to get it done Laughing

Thank you guys!! It turned out to be a good day. Bought my Corolla gifts to celebrate Laughing

I did the 275mm rotor upgrade and twinpot caliper swap yesterday Very Happy. Everything went to plan and the braking performance is phenomenal. It comes to a dead stop within a matter of seconds and literally throws you forward in the seat. I can brake a lot later into corners and don't have to push anywhere near as hard on the pedal for the same effect. It was definitely a worthwhile upgrade and they've been a lot of fun to drive with so far Smile

Here's some pics (they're a lot shinier in real-life but you get the idea) -

A very happy belated birthday to you, Scott! Sorry I missed saying it on the day. Embarassed the brakes are looking good. Very Happy I love your car Very Happy

Actually, off topic slightly, I was in the photo thread you started. Razz you seem to know some very scenic spots over here, and are a bit of a wiz with that camera. Razz

Great stuff man!

What parts did you use for the swap and was it fairly straightforward? (Any chance of a "How-To") Looking to do this in the next few weeks.

I'd recommend VTTR Fast Road Pads for the calipers. I used them in my old AE101 GTZ and they were very good. Had very little issues with them, even after some very hard laps of our track here in Ireland.

Hey Scott, first off... WOW! Smile And indeed, was it hard to do and what are the prerequisites? Razz

If the braking power improves... then I want in too! Laughing

Thanks mate. Better late than never so I appreciate it regardless Smile. Ohh yes, I've certainly got around a bit searching for interesting photos locations Laughing. Was a lot of fun, until I got too scared to leave my car anywhere to go wandering through the forest etc laugh

Thanks! The 275mm rotors are for an AE111 SuperStrut Levin/Trueno (55mm center hole as opposed to the 54mm center hole on the AE101 SuperStrut Levin/Trueno/FX-GT), the twinpot calipers were from an AE111 SuperStrut Levin BZ-G (same calipers as the AE111 BZ-R and AE101 SuperStrut Levin/Trueno/FX-GT), AE101/AE111 OEM SuperStrut brake pads and ST202 Celica SSII (3S-GE version) carrier brackets.

The swap was pretty easy and didn't take too long. I didn't take any photos during the installation process unfortunately so a how-to will be a bit difficult but I'm more than happy to answer any questions you may have Cool

Thanks for the tip! I opted for the OEM pads a mate of mine who works at Toyota uses them on his AE111 Corolla GT which he takes to the track quite often and apparently they do a good job, and don't take very long to heat up which is good for around town, but better brake pads will definitely be on the cards in future so I'll keep the VTTR's in mind Wink. Someone also suggested to use DOT 5 brake fluid. It currently has DOT 4 fluid installed.

Thanks Rachid. It wasn't difficult to do at all thankfully Smile. The longest part of the whole job was probably bleeding the brakes, haha. The braking power has improved immensely, so this is definitely a sway I'd recommend to others Very Happy

Soooo, if I'm reading the above correctly it's a sure fit? Smile No modding required, just having all the parts.

Any idea on what such a set costs? Razz (not curious at all Laughing )

Yeah pretty much, with the exception of grinding the carrier bracket a little but that's only about a 5-minute job. My set-up ended up being pretty cheap as I got a discount through Toyota and sourced the twinpot calipers and Celica carrier brackets secondhand for a good price so only ended up paying $485 NZD ($401 USD, €309) all up.

Thanks bro, bet you're looking forward to when that day comes! Very Happy

I installed this sweet looking Tomei fuel pressure regulator today. I had always assumed that fuel pressure regulators were only beneficial for turbocharged engines, until I came across a post online about a fellow Blacktop owner who had installed a FPR, played around with the pressure setting and had great results.

The factory fuel pressure for a Blacktop is 40psi at full throttle, and raising it to 44psi seems to be the sweet spot for the ECU as it doesn't affect the top end performance and doesn't seem to affect the fuel economy. After my first initial drive once I had finished the installation I was very impressed at how much of a difference the additional 4psi of fuel pressure had made. The sluggishness down low had gone and the throttle response had increased dramatically. The engine now responds when I want it to, instead of having to wind itself up from low to mid rpm like it used to.

All in all it has definitely made the engine rev more freely and respond a lot quicker. It's now a lot more fun to drive, especially around town. Proved to be a very worthwhile upgrade Smile

The set-up consists of:

* Genuine Tomei Type S fuel pressure regulator.
* Genuine Tomei liquid filled gauge.
* Genuine Tomei fuel rail adapter.
* Goodyear fuel hose & 4mm silicone vacuum hose.
* 2x 90-degree brass elbow fittings, 1x straight fitting.
